THINGS YOU CAN DO IN BLACKBALL
- Walk around town with the
Blackball History Group's pamphlet to guide you.
- Take a guided historic walk
around Blackball (please ring to book).
- Go into the old mine's
ventilation chimney.
- Gold panning (we have
pans).
- Play tennis (we have
racquets here).
- Swim in the beautiful town
pool, or the Grey river.
- Tramp the Croesus track
from Blackball to Barrytown or stay overnight at the Ces Clark or Garden Gully
hut.
- Explore the tunnels under
the town. You'll need a torch and gummies.
- Go helibiking with Chris

- Lie around and read our
books (or the library is across the road at the workingmen's club) and
sip good wine.
- Visit the Blackball Salami
shop, sample and buy!
- Go up the Moonlight valley
(4WD).
- Go mountain biking.
- Walk the water race track.
- Fish for salmon in season
and trout all year in the Grey river.
- Play golf at Ikamutua or
Greymouth (20 minutes, either way).
- Run to the river, into the
hills etc.
- Have dinner at Roma's pie
cart (not many of these left in New Zealand but there is one
in Blackball).
- Trek the Coal creek canyon.
- Visit the Working Class
History Museum

- View the old mine managers
house/Blackball Community Centre (which is recorded as the South Islands most haunted building). You can park
your camper van there too.
- See the gold dredge, the
biggest in the southern hemisphere
